Intel Unison alternative
Intel Unison is gone. The connected-phone experience shouldn't be
Why Intel Unison stopped connecting: Intel officially ended the Unison service in 2025. If you lost that flow of texts, photos and notifications on your computer — and you're using a Mac — Syncsaurs fills the seat: mirroring with control, texts, notifications, photos, files, even phone-as-webcam. Wider coverage than Unison ever had.
Unison's lesson: the fate of side-project apps
Intel Unison was genuinely good — it linked Android and iPhone to Windows PCs and brought texts, calls and photos to the desktop. Then Intel restructured, the service was shut down, and loyal users were left stranded. Dell Mobile Connect walked the same road earlier.
The common thread: when phone integration isn't the company's actual business, it's always first in line for cuts. For Syncsaurs, phone-to-Mac integration isn't a side feature — it is the product. It exists for this one job, and paying subscribers are what keep it alive.
What you gain moving from Unison
Everything Unison did (texts, notifications, photos, file transfer) — plus what it never had: low-latency screen mirroring with mouse/keyboard control, phone apps in separate Mac windows, your phone camera as a Mac webcam, and a noise-cancelling mic. All of it device-to-device, with no server in the middle.

Frequently asked questions
Can I keep using Unison somehow?
Intel ended the service, the app no longer functions properly, and it's been pulled from the stores. Rather than clinging to unmaintained software, we'd recommend moving to an alternative that's alive.
I'm on Windows — what should I use?
On Windows, Microsoft's Phone Link is the default answer. Syncsaurs is macOS-only — if you're on a Mac or heading there, we're the one.
Does this also replace Dell Mobile Connect?
Yes — same story. Dell Mobile Connect was discontinued too, and on a Mac, Syncsaurs covers mirroring, texts, notifications and files in its place.
Do you support iPhones?
No, Syncsaurs is Android-only (11+). Unlike Unison we don't cover iPhone — Apple's built-in Continuity already serves iPhone + Mac.
How do I know Syncsaurs won't disappear too?
Fair question. The difference is structural: Unison was a big company's side project; Syncsaurs is paid software whose entire product is this integration. Subscriptions fund development directly, and improvements ship continuously via auto-update.
